This is the continuation of a series I began about a year ago.
I wanted to take representative photographs of how human vision works. We see and process a million details at any given moment, but our selective focus allows us to mostly ignore them.
In the process of making these portraits, I shined light all over his face from all kinds of angles to see the best way to find and light a single feature or a segment of his face. There is always an indistinct portion, which is either out of focus or entirely dark. Because I find my focus often centered on people's eyes, particularly in conversation, I mostly focused on eyes.
